EXPLORE- Jungle Nature

It’s our final week in the jungle! Have you enjoyed your stay so far?

For this final week we are going to explore the area as a whole. We’ve learned about the bugs and animals, now let’s take a peek at the plants and ecosystems that keep everything alive!

Pack a bag and let’s head out!

What do you want to explore first?

Language Arts:

🌱 Start your Year of Nature journal! It’s a great time of year to begin since we can go outside and explore! Don’t have this journal yet? Create your own! If you need help with ideas, please reach out! I can help!

🌱 Head to the library (or check yours at home) for books about habitats, plants and the jungle! We really love titles like the ones pictured! (Parents, I have links to all of them in the pinned post).

🌱 Get creative and write a story about a place you’d love to live! Include the plants, animals and bugs you’d love to have living there! What do you eat? How’s the temperature? Think about all the 5 W’s. (Who, What, When, Where and Why) Can you answer them in a story and still make it flow like a book?

Art:

🌱 It might also be fun to create some MUD art! Grab your paper, make some mud with dirt and water outside. Then throw mud onto the paper! Can you make the mud splatter into something creative and related to the jungle?

🌱 Have you ever created a terrarium? How about a jungle themed garden? Check out this how to video and see if it’s something you’d like to create!

Geography:

🌱 Take a minute and watch this video to learn how to tell the difference between different types of rain forests.

🌱 Combining Art and Geography: Head outside and do a “found art” project! Can you create a jungle theme with things you find outside?

Science:

🌱 From the video in geography, you’ll learn about the layers of the forest. Can you create this in a 3D art project? Use a box, cardboard tube or your 3D pen to map out the layers! Add any details you’d like- plants, animals, bugs…

See my Pinterest page for more ideas or instructions for some of the ideas listed above.

Of course, we’d love to see what you’re working on! Submit your favorite project here or in a message.

Thank you so much for joining us this month! We will be back in May with more!

Talk Soon,
