There is a nagging narrative in the entrepreneur space that tells you if you aren’t waking up before dawn, drinking cold-pressed juice and working three hours before your family wakes up, you simply don’t want success badly enough.
I am here to tell you that narrative is exhausting, unsustainable and completely unnecessary.
Waking up at 4:00 AM out of guilt does not make you productive. Most of the time, it just leaves you dragging by noon, short-tempered with your kids and operating on an empty tank. Or downing an Alani just to get through the morning. (Although I do love a good caffeinated drink!)
Productivity is not measured by how early your alarm goes off; it is measured by how intentionally you use the hours you have set aside for work.
When you switch from an endless, chaotic task list to intentional time blocks, you give yourself permission to be fully present wherever you are.
Remember, we all have the same amount of hours in a day. So if others can do it, so can you. Here’s how I manage:
🦩 Wear One Hat at a Time
1. Protect Your “Mrs. Mom” Hours
When you are in an Anchor Block, your business mind gets to take a back seat. You are fully present with your kids, your spouce and your home. You aren’t secretly checking emails under the table or feeling guilty that you aren’t at your desk. Your family gets the best version of you, not the distracted version.
2. Set Up Distraction-Free Focus Time
When it is time for a Focus Block, communicate clearly with your household. Set your kids up with their schoolwork, a activity, a mother’s helper or quiet time so you can sit at your desk without constant interruptions. Because you know this block has a defined start and end time, you work with intense clarity and finish your core priorities in a fraction of the time.
3. Build Realistic Connection Windows
You cannot operate as an isolated island and expect your business or personal life to thrive. Setting aside dedicated Communication Blocks gives you permission to make those Marco Polo calls to family, check in on clients and connect with your local community without letting phone notifications hijack your entire afternoon.
🦩 Success Without the Guilt
You built your business to serve your life and family, not the other way around. When you replace daily guilt with reliable time boundaries, you create a sustainable pace that honors your health, your marriage and your purpose.
