Letting Go of the Hustle

A few weeks ago, my view changed entirely. I traded my laptop screen for the pine trees. I climbed into a hammock swing and let the world spin without me for a minute.

No scrolling. No answering phone calls. No checking notifications to see what the algorithms wanted from me.

Just pure, uninterrupted time in nature with my absolute favorite people. My husband, who still keeps me laughing constantly with his sheer silliness, my two girls and our four dogs. We spent the days exploring God’s artwork, breathing in the mountain air and remembering what it feels like to just exist without an agenda. The rain we experienced usually kills the mood, but it was the cool down we needed and forced the family into a small space for hours on end to play card games.

🦩 Rest is Not a Reward

We live in a culture that treats rest like a reward you have to earn after you are thoroughly exhausted. We are told that if we aren’t constantly producing, checking in or adjusting our strategies, we are falling behind.

But I look at rest a little differently. Taking a step back isn’t a luxury. It is how we protect our capacity.

When we constantly subject our minds to the noise of the online world, we crowd out the quiet spaces where we are actually meant to recharge. Stepping away from the digital chaos allows us to show up fully for the people who matter most. God didn’t design us to be constantly accessible to everyone at all hours of the day. He gave us beautiful, physical spaces to rest our minds and restore our souls. He promises to make us lie down in green pastures and lead us beside quiet waters (Psalm 23:2). I am thankful to recognize rest in Him is true self-care.

🦩 The Best Things Can’t Be Digitized

There is something incredibly grounding about watching your kids explore the woods and your dogs run through the trees while your husband makes you laugh until your stomach hurts. You can’t capture the actual peace of that in a status update or a perfectly curated online aesthetic. The best parts of life happen completely offscreen.

Building sustainable back office systems and locking down business boundaries isn’t just about making more money or hitting professional milestones. The real goal is freedom. It is about creating a business structure that allows you to pack up, head to nature and leave the phone behind without a single ounce of worry things might fall through the cracks.

🦩 A Quick Challenge For Your Week

If you are feeling the weight of the constant digital pull today, take this as your sign to step back. You don’t necessarily have to pack up and head to the mountains to find peace. Just start by putting the phone in another room. Go sit outside. Look at the world right in front of you. Take a breather.

The internet will still be here when you get back. But the moments with the people you love? Those move fast. Don’t miss them by choosing to constantly look at a screen.
