Resetting My Nervous System

🦩 Quiet Trails and RZR Rides

I am not the type of person who thrives in crowds, big cities or loud concerts. I need space to breathe, time to think clearly and to reset. The mountains, the lakes and the quiet trails are where I feel most like myself. Give me an RZR ride with my noise cancelling headphones so I can just sit in the quiet. That is how I calm down.

I love the mornings before everyone else is awake. There is something sacred about the stillness. Watching my dogs hunt squirrels they’ll never catch or know what to do with it if they actually succeed, feeling the breeze and hearing the faint hum of life waking up slowly around me brings so much peace. I find myself studying my Bible more deeply during these hours and reflecting on life without feeling rushed. This quiet alone time isn’t an indulgence. It is restoration for my mind, body and spirit.

🦩 Lake Days are Therapy

When the morning ends and the world starts to stir, I love a good lake day. Paddleboarding, floating or just sitting on the shore resets me in a way nothing else can. The water has a way of leveling everything out.

I love paddling with my husband and the dogs while we tow the kids along behind us. Watching how well we all work together and how we’ve grown to love the same things reminds me why it is so important to work hard for balance. There is a rhythm to these moments that restores relationships and softens tension. The noise of the world fades and all that’s left is a steady calm.

🦩 Restoration over Escape

This isn’t about escaping my life. It is about restoration. We return to the same spots year after year because familiarity brings comfort. We know the trails, the lakes and the secret spots few others visit.

Having these anchors allows me to recharge in ways that influence everything else I touch. My work, my parenting, my marriage and my faith all benefit from this. Being here helps me refocus and remember the direction I want to take when I’m back to reality. I often come back to these spots in my mind when the daily grind gets to be too much.

🦩 I’m Not Telling

And no, I’m not telling you exactly where these places are. šŸ˜‰
These locations are sacred to our family. It is a sanctuary and a “second home” that I’d like to keep just for us. I dream of having a permanent cabin retreat nearby one day so we can visit more often. This space allows me to recalibrate and decide exactly how I want to show up for my family and my clients.

Leaving is always bittersweet, but the peace I soak in here carries me forward. I feel relaxed and ready to tackle challenges with a fresh mindset. The stillness allows me to return to the world with a level of confidence I wouldn’t find anywhere else.

🦩 Final Thoughts

The places that reset my nervous system aren’t just ā€œnice to have.ā€ They are essential. They remind me that life doesn’t have to be rushed to be full. They help me show up more intentionally in my work and they remind me to honor the rhythms God has set in my life.

These moments are the fuel behind how I move through my business. Restoration isn’t selfish. It is necessary. I hope you have found your own reset spots. If you want to share the small details with me, leave a comment or send a message.
