The Non-Negotiables

There are a lot of things people are willing to sacrifice in the name of growth, money or momentum. I’ve watched it happen and I’ve even brushed up against it myself. But there are lines I won’t cross- not for a bigger platform, more clients or a shinier version of success. These are my non-negotiables.

🦩 God is My Business Partner

This may turn some people away, but it’s the truth. I wouldn’t have this business without Him. Before my feet hit the floor, I’m with Him. Before I open my calendar, I’m in His Word. He sets my day and He steadies me when I fall.

He’s been there in the wins and the losses, and trust me, I have definitely lost. He provided anyway. If everything disappeared tomorrow, He would still be faithful. I trust His plan fully and I won’t walk away from Him for a paycheck. He’s never walked away from me.

🦩 My Marriage

Outside of my faith, this is the most important relationship in my life. I’m unapologetically obsessed with my husband. He provides emotionally, spiritually and practically. He is a leader, a protector and a safe place where I’m encouraged to grow.

I believe God placed him in my life for a reason. I will put my marriage before any opportunity, title or career milestone. Always.

🦩 My Kids

My husband and I chose to homeschool our kids. Not for the label, but for the life spent with them. I treasure the conversations, the flexibility and the ability to learn outside the box. Homeschooling allows us to know our kids deeply as they grow into adults.

I’ve chosen work over this before and I won’t do it again. They are only in my home for a short season and I refuse to rush past it for the sake of “success.” We have and are prepared to sacrifice an extravagant life (sometimes that just means we skip the candy bar at the checkout; sometimes it means we only have one vehicle) so that we can spend our days raising our kids.

🦩 My Health

Growth at the expense of excellence is a bad trade. I’ve had to let go of great clients and solid projects not because the work was bad, but because the “mental load” was beginning to crowd out my ability to be the partner my clients deserve.

I don’t just “squeeze in” one more call or take on a project just because the money is good. If I can’t give a brand my full focus and the “Swing & Sway” energy it requires, I don’t take it. Period.

I schedule the gym, I prioritize sleep and my phone stays on silent unless I am at my desk. This isn’t about being “self-serving,” it’s about being sustainable. By guarding my health and my schedule, I ensure that when I am working on your brand, you are getting 100% of my expertise, not the leftovers of a burnt-out strategist. I stay healthy so I can show up as the “secret weapon” for my partners every single day.

🦩 My Integrity

God holds me accountable. No amount of influence or attention will change my standards. I won’t be pressured or coerced into compromising who I am. I’m not perfect, but I am intentional.

Success that costs my faith, my family or my character isn’t success at all. I’m building a life I can stand behind, not just a brand that looks good on Instagram.

🦩 Standing Tall in the Quiet

Knowing what I won’t trade has made my decisions cleaner and my peace easier to protect. I’m not chasing the loudest version of growth anymore; I’m choosing the kind that lasts. If that means fewer clients or saying “no” more often, I’m okay with that.

I’m building something I can stand inside of, not just something I can point to. What are the things you refuse to trade for success? I’d love to hear it.
