🦩 The “Behind the Scenes” Reality
I talk a lot so people assume they know the whole story. But when I’m actually asked, I realize how much I keep to myself. I’ll talk about my kids, the laundry or homeschooling all day long, but I rarely talk about my job or what’s actually on my heart. Today you’re getting a look inside the vault. And yeah, I’m a little nervous, which is funny to me considering how much I usually share.
🦩 “You build websites, right?”
I get this one constantly. Here’s the truth: I’m capable, but I don’t generally offer it as a service. This blog is about as far as I want to go with websites. Why? Because it’s not fun for me. I overthink every pixel and it drains the energy I need for my clients. I believe people should do the work they actually enjoy, so I’ll be the first to point you toward a designer who lives for that stuff. (Though I’m holding out hope my youngest finds it fun one day so I can add it to her job description.)
🦩 “You must have so much free time.”
Actually, no. I fill my calendar in quarters and I don’t “squeeze things in.” If it isn’t on the schedule, it doesn’t happen. I time-block everything from “tea time” with my oldest to park days and church volunteering three months in advance. Running a household, homeschooling and owning a business means accountability is constant. Working from home doesn’t mean I’m available; it means I’m disciplined enough to stay behind the screen until the work is done.
🦩 “You seem so calm, life must be easy.”
This might be the biggest misconception of all. I don’t share much of my personal life because I’m a vault when it comes to protecting the people I love. I’m careful about who I open up to because I won’t dishonor someone else’s story just to make a post. If you see me looking calm, it isn’t because my life is rainbows and butterflies. It’s because I trust God’s promises and His peace is what steadies me. My life is full of “ins and outs” just like yours, I just choose to work through the chaos with my bestie, Jesus.
🦩 “I thought you were intimidating.”
This one makes me laugh. People usually admit they thought I was a “mean girl” or just plain rude before they met me. The truth? I’m just usually stuck in my head. When I’m not in a conversation, I’m calculating the next move for a brand or managing a mental to-do list. It’s never intentional. I genuinely enjoy connection and I’m not scary, I promise. If you want to grab coffee, I’m down. Just make sure we get it on the calendar a few weeks ahead of time.
🦩 Standing Tall in the Quiet
I’m sharing this to be seen, not to be handled. Sometimes what looks quiet isn’t hidden, it’s just protected. What you see from the outside barely scratches the surface of the work it takes to keep this brand moving forward.
If any of this resonated or made you feel a little less alone, I’d love to hear it. You’re always welcome to message me. I’m glad you’re here.
