3 Things I Wish People Knew About Me and My Work

There have been so many times I have said to my husband: “I wish we could trade places to better understand each other.” And I mean it. If we ever had a “Freaky Friday” moment, I think we would both come back with a greater appreciation for each other and our roles in this world. I am not saying I want his physical labor job, but the perspective would be priceless.

With that said, I want to give you a few insights into what I actually do and why I love it. And I would love to hear your three things, too!

🦩 First Up: My Why

(Because the quiet life requires the most discipline)

If you know me, you know I live on the outskirts of town. We have deer, coyotes and cows on the road constantly. For me, a traditional commute just isn’t a viable option with the wildlife, the distance from town and my homeschooled kids. Our setup is very deliberate. We chose the homestead life over city convenience. I love the quiet with the animals and the garden and I have the self-discipline to make working from home, actually work.

But that is not the only reason I am taking A Swing & A Sway further. I have daughters who love coding, creating websites and networking. They love to write, edit and tell stories. I want to give them the same opportunity I had: to work in a small family business. They can learn, grow and maybe even run this place one day. I am motivated to build a business that can flex and grow with their passions so they have a head start on success. Plus, it would be pretty cool to work alongside my kids. I sincerely just love being around them.

🦩 Second: What Happens Behind the Scenes

I often wish people could see the actual creative process: the inspo-boards I build, the hours I spend dissecting fonts and every single word in a tagline. I am constantly researching, testing and paying attention to the algorithm changes on every platform. Meta changes things constantly and it is frustrating to say the least. If you have been an onboarding client of mine, you know exactly what I mean.

I am scrolling Pinterest for inspiration, researching your competitors and checking what is actually working on Facebook and Instagram. I make sure every post aligns with your brand values. I am not just “making posts.” I am building a strategy, understanding your audience and thinking ten steps ahead so you don’t have to. I FaceTime, text and take endless notes to learn who you are and why you want this so badly. I study your industry and I Swing & Sway right along with you as the business grows. What I do isn’t loud. It is layered, planned and strategic.

🦩 Third: Urgency Isn’t My Thing, Sustainability Is

(We are building businesses that last)

When I talk to my clients, they generally want a business that lasts, not a one-hit wonder. I believe that is possible, but it takes real patience and planning. A sustainable business does not chase trends or try to go viral just for the sake of it. It is built on values, consistency and heart.

That means knowing your core values, creating a calendar and actually sticking to it. It means understanding where your heart is so you can keep showing up even when things get quiet or hard. That is the kind of marketing that sticks and gives you a real foundation for long-term success. I want to take the research, the algorithms and the constant “chasing game” off your plate. I want to be a true partner in the process. Your success is my success, and I do not take that lightly.

I would love to hear from you: what do you want others to know about you and your business?

Talk soon,
L
