Welcome to Week One of our newest theme! We are going to be traveling all month- starting in the good ol’ USA!

Where do you live? Can you share at least ONE fun fact about your state?

I live in Utah- did you know the Great Salt Lake is SEVEN TIMES saltier than the ocean? It’s so salty that when you get in the water, you float! The salt increases the buoyancy. I drive by the Great Salt Lake when we go into town. It’s so large you can see it from space! Pretty neat right?

*PARENTS* Here are some things to do this week to help your kids explore.

Language Arts:

 We will be working through a workbook full of fun games and facts about all 50 states.

 My kids will be completing a lapbook on a state of their choice. Grab your FREE lapbooks now!

Music & Geography:

 My kids LOVE the song 50 Nifty United States so we will be revisiting this song while filling out a map of off of the states and capitals. We are also learning the capitals and abbreviations for each state.

 We also LOVE National Parks so we will be looking at this book to discover all of the places, plants and animals that are protected in the USA.

History & Social Studies:

 I’m going to have my kids do some history research for our state and one of their choosing. This site has a bunch of ads, but is a GREAT resource for basic facts on every different state.

 We live in the land of the free which creates a lot of entrepreneurs! So we will be working through this workbook as well.

 We started this subscription last year and finally have all 50 states in our collection. So my kids get to choose their lapbook state and use this resource for research– This is VERY well done and I highly recommend signing up!

Science:

 My kiddos favorite subject is science, particularly animal science. This book is going to combine the USA and animals!
